Director of Engineering

We are looking for a motivated and experienced development leader who is not afraid to change the world through data-driven solutions and already has experience in building strong teams on a scale of 100+ headcount.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Strategic and Operational Excellence:
    1. Collaborate with the CTO to co-author and execute the Engineering Strategy, focusing on process, functions and technological efficiency.
    2. Oversee strategic internal developments in user authentication, payments and anti-fraud systems.
  2. Functional Leadership and Mentorship:
    1. Lead QA, Mobile and Support functions.
    2. Act as a functional matrix leader for Engineering Managers across Business Units.
    3. Mentor engineering leaders to ensure adherence to company standards and enhanced operational efficiency.
  3. Engineering Processes and Standards:
    1. Devise and uphold engineering standards to improve time-to-market, on-time delivery, system stability and DORA metrics.
    2. Implement standardized engineering practices across Business Units for continuous improvement.
  4. Talent Development and Retention:
    1. Ensure high engagement and talent retention by providing training, development and comprehensive career paths.
    2. Continuously refine the engineering grading system to support professional growth and match it to company strategy.
  5. Headquarters Engineering Leadership:
    1. Serve as a senior engineering counterpart to headquarters leaders (HR, Operations, Marketing, Finance/Legal).
    2. Help optimize headquarters IT budget, ensure proper architectural decisions and the completion of technology goals.

Key Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, a minimum of 2 years serving as Engineering Manager or CTO and a proven track record in accelerating business growth through effective engineering strategies and execution.
  • Technical Skills: Strong technical background and expertise in relevant technologies and programming languages.
  • Business Acumen: Understanding of business & product strategies and the ability to align engineering initiatives with business & product goals.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire a team of multi-disciplinary engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Project Management Skills: Experience in managing complex engineering projects and delivering results on time and within budget.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical & process challenges.
